Actually its identical to H.264 so you can find it as H.264, H.264/AVC, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC or MPEG-4 Part 10. You can think it as the “successor” of the existing formats (MPEG-2, DivX, XviD etc) as it aims in offering similar video quality in half the size of the formats mentioned before.ĪVC stands for Advanced Video Coding. H.264 is a new video codec standard which can achieve high quality video in relatively low bitrates. This FAQ is pretty outdated now, H.264 is supported by most of the programs and devices out there.
